In dem Band formuliert die feministisch-marxistische Theoretikerin und Aktivistin Silvia Federici eine aktuelle Kritik der Reproduktionsarbeit im globalen Kapitalismus und plädiert für eine feministische Politik der Commons. Neben zwei neuen Beiträgen wird auch die bereits 1974 verfasste Kritik Counter-Planning from the Kitchen erstmals in deutscher Sprache veröffentlicht. Federici erinnert an die unerledigte Revolution des Feminismus und plädiert für deren Aktualisierung in der Gegenwart.
Queer-Feminismus und Ökonomiekritik schließen einander nicht aus (wie in letzter Zeit immer wieder behauptet), sondern müssen verbunden werden. Das Buch, das unsere Reihe eröffnen wird, ist gleichzeitig eine Intervention in einen queeren wie feministischen Diskurs, der sich um eine Kritik des Kapitalismus zu wenig bemüht und andererseits eine Intervention in den ökonomiekritischen, marxistischen Diskurs, der leider immer noch sehr androzentrisch (männerdominiert) funktioniert und Geschlechterverhältnisse nur am Rande behandelt. Gleichzeitig führen wir auch die in USA und Italien bekannte operaistische Feministin Silvia Federici in Deutschland ein. Der Band stellt ebenso einen Beitrag zur Analyse des globalen Kapitalismus mit Schwerpunkt auf der Reproduktionsarbeit dar wie zur Geschichte feministischer Kämpfe. Im Kontext der neuen Buchreihe Kitchen Politics ist der erste Band auch als ein Plädoyer für eine materialistische, antikapitalistische Wende der Queer Theory zu verstehen.
